Things you should consider in a contractor are:

  • Is he licensed and registered with the Georgia Secretary of State? You can check this easily by using this link https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/myverification/Search.aspx.
  • How long has he been in business? The longer in business the more likely someone will remain in business to protect your investment.
  • Does he offer different payment methods, or cash only? Be cautious about cash only and especially if he asks for a deposit or payment up-front. We accept all major credit cards, Paypal, checks, and offer financing on major purchases.
  • B&R Air installs an average of over 1000 systems each year and we take great pride in the satisfaction and comfort of our customers.

Info Every Homeowner Needs to Know click to open

99% of homes in Georgia use R-22 refrigerant in the existing air conditioner. If your system is over 5 years old, it is near a 100% chance.

R-22 is one of the refrigerants that is considered ozone depleting and is scheduled for phase-out in the future. However, recent changes by the EPD and EPA have decreased the amount of R-22 available to the AC market. The price has risen so dramatically that it will be very costly to "top off" an existing system. A repair that last year was $100 could easily be $500 this year.

Refrigerants do not wear out. Small system leaks are the reason it is occasionally added to systems. These small leaks can become large leaks and it is often difficult to find and fix these leaks as the older a system becomes, the more points of possible leaks increase.

Homeowners should give considerable thought to letting someone add R-22 to an existing system and should insist that the leak be found and repaired first. Ask about what warranty applies to this work and if it leaks down again who will pay to add more.

Let B&R Air Conditioning be your Prescription for better cooling this summer and help you make the wise choices.
